Samadhi

Created by the audio-visual duo 'Samadhi', the 3-channel animation Samadhi follows a protagonist's journey in search of the ultimate value, 'Samadhi', within a digital metropolis built on fragmented data. The work explores the human endeavor to maintain inner focus amidst the chaos of a contemporary, information-saturated society. Technically, the project utilizes GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) models for character design, integrating glitch art techniques to visualize the distinct textures generated by data errors. Auditorily, it employs a technique of slicing visual images and translating the extracted data into musical elements, combining them with glitch IDM and digicore soundscapes to achieve a highly organic synchronization between sight and sound. Through the expanded medium of a 3-channel screen setup, the project presents the process of self-discovery in a digitized world in an intuitive and experimental format.

오디오비주얼 듀오 '사마디(Samadhi)'의 3채널 애니메이션 <사마디>는 파편화된 데이터로 구축된 가상의 디지털 도시를 배경으로, 궁극의 가치인 '사마디'를 찾아 나서는 여정을 다룬다. 이 작품은 정보가 범람하는 현대 사회의 혼돈 속에서 중심을 잃지 않으려는 인간 내면의 탐구를 주제로 한다. 시각적으로는 GAN 모델을 활용한 캐릭터 디자인과 글리치 기법을 결합하여 데이터 오류가 빚어내는 특유의 질감을 구현하였다. 청각적으로는 시각 이미지를 슬라이싱해 추출한 데이터를 음악적 요소로 변환하는 기법을 적용했으며, 이를 글리치 IDM 및 디지코어 기반의 사운드와 결합하여 시각과 청각의 유기적인 동기화를 유발한다. 결과적으로 3채널 스크린이라는 확장된 매체를 통해 데이터화된 세상 속 자아 탐구의 과정을 직관적이고 실험적인 형태로 제시한다.
